Small Charity Week at The FSI

Next week, the Foundation for Social Improvement launch their Small Charity Week to celebrate and raise the profile of community and voluntary groups across the UK.  One of our own insurer partners, specialist charity insurer Ansvar, are sponsoring the launch day.  The week supports small charities and their contribution to UK communities as well as their global reach.  The FSI aim to improve the knowledge of organisations, help make them more robust and provide a mouthpiece for all the good work that these groups are doing.  They also support small charities who are dependent on fundraising, an issue that has become critical for a number of our own clients who have seen other income streams, such as local authority funding, cut.

The launch day for Small Charity Week is Monday 13th June and the focus is ‘Small Charities Day’.  The FSI are providing spot prizes in a twitter account and will be working with small charities on twitter to help boost profiles.

Day 2 is the Big Advice Day where charities can attend regional events and seek guidance on a wide range of issues that effect third sector organisations.

On Day 3, policies will be the focus, events will include politicians and offer the opportunity for small charities to engage with decision makers and consider how they might influence policy.

On Day 4, an issue that effects many of our charity insurance clients in the current climate, ‘Fundraising Day’.  A wide range of conferences, events and resources will be made available to support small charities that are seeking help with fundraising.

Day 5, ‘Volunteering Day’ offers an opportunity for organisations that use volunteers to engage in with potential volunteers and trustees.  There is also a Reach Volunteering Advisory Panel on this day.

The final day is a wrap up of all things good happening in our sector; ‘Celebration Day’.

There really is an astonishing amount going on in Small Charity Week.  Small groups (sub £1.5m income) can register for free with the FSI and we would certainly recommend having a look at some of the support available in this week celebrating small charities.
