Nova Wakefield have something exciting happening…

NCSE Voices

Nova Wakefield have launched a new project which is set to increase representation of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector with meetings held across the Wakefield District. The meetings will provide an open space for all to meet and share topics, projects and discuss how these aspects of what they do relates to the work of the VCSE sector.

The Nova appointed VCSE Advocates will attend meetings across the area to represent and voice the concerns, intensions etc of the VCSE sector. Within the VCSE Voices Network meetings, Advocates will share and discuss relevant information, then reporting back to the sector of current plans, concerns, priorities and challenges. These meetings will also allow the opportunity for the wider sector and Nova members to express their concerns or priorities too.

The VCSE Voices Network supports an open two-way communication between the board meetings and the VCSE sector in Wakefield district to build more collaborative services that prioritise the needs of residents and communities.

Meetings will provide updates from the most recent board meetings from the Advocates involved. The network is also a collaborative space for support, problem solving and collaborative practice. These VCSE Voice meetings alternate from online to in person, allowing more people to take part and are run as a self -led meeting which the appointed Advocates chair.

VCSE Advocates are appointed from a background of working or volunteering within the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector. They therefore have the knowledge and knowhow to support the needs and views of the local community and its residents. Anyone from this sector can become an advocate so check out their website if this is a fit for you.

Many decision-making boards exist to coordinate and deliver health and wellbeing services, adults’ services, social care, and children and young people’s services.

Advocates provide representation across boards within The Health and Care Partnership (meetings that help plan and deliver NHS services) and The Local Authority (Wakefield District Council meetings which plan and deliver council services). Each meeting has responsibility to include VCSE sector representation and therefore, through VCSE Voices, Nova is continually recruiting Advocates to provide expert advice and leadership.

All Advocates are given a full tailored induction and are provided with training to all them to feel empowered to participate and advise or discuss with knowledge.
