Care Insurance – The Cover You Need

Any group that works in the care sector, whether with children, the disabled or vulnerable adults owes a duty of care to their colleagues, volunteers and service users.  When managing the activities of an organisation, such a responsibility might seem quite daunting.

As well as considering the right policies and procedures and care giving organisation might need, many groups chose to purchase insurance to financially protect themselves in case an allegation is made.  There are different types of insurance for care organisations and one of those is the risk of abuse.

Ladbrook are an independent charity insurance broker.  While care sector organisations such as nursing homes, children’s centres and hospices do have a more limited range of insurers willing to provide terms, we work with a number that can.  Markel are one of these and certainly one strong aspect of their cover is the breadth and transparency of their cover for abuse under their Social Welfare Insurance policy.

We are currently writing a white paper we are looking to publish in the coming weeks on the subject of abuse.  In short and in general, many insurers have been seeking to limit the amount of cover that they will offer and many have simply withdrawn from offering cover at all.  Subject to the right risk controls being in place, Markel will offer full cover.
